Commenting on Police Scotland's new technology investment plan, Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur said:

"Officers and staff are constantly frustrated and slowed down by shoddy IT. The police are not going to be able to tackle highly sophisticated organised criminals with IT equipment that would struggle to run Pacman.

"The SNP promised that police centralisation would deliver savings that could be reinvested elsewhere. The opposite has happened, thanks in part to the collapse of previous flagship IT reforms.

"21st century policing requires 21st century tools. Scottish Liberal Democrats demand better."
