Following the publication of the Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Bill, Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP commented:

"This Bill, if passed, has the potential to offer valuable additional protections for victims of crime.

"For this to happen, however, Ministers must ensure that it is backed by adequate resources. Effective support can only be provided if resources are increased and then maintained for the agencies involved, as well as the wider criminal justice system itself.

"If this does not happen, the Bill will only serve to add stress to an already strained system."
