Responding to the monthly unemployment figures, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson Carolyn Caddick said:

"Unemployment figures are down but the Scottish economy still faces challenges from Brexit, high inflation and skills shortages. Firms are warning of an uncertain future as they struggle to recruit staff, while high inflation erodes the value of people's wages.

"The First Minister promised an "exceptional response" to economic problems yet of the half a billion pounds of guarantees and loans intended for Scottish companies, not a single penny has yet been paid out.

"The Scottish Government need to get their act together and bring forward the necessary parliamentary procedures to ensure that the Scottish Growth fund can give the economy the boost it needs."
