Scottish Liberal Democrat connectivity spokesperson Mike Rumbles today challenged the Scottish Government and UK Governments to tackle the "digital deluge" of unwanted communications.

Mr Rumbles said:

"In some parts of Scotland almost 50% of calls are coming from time-wasters, scammers and chancers. At best this is an irritation and at worst we have seen the exploitation and harassment of society's most vulnerable. It is a digital deluge.

"We need a single point of contact for reporting nuisance calls and more robust measures in place for dealing wth businesses who repeatedly harass and harangue people in their own homes.

"It's time that both of Scotland's governments cut the cord on nuisance callers."
