Commenting on an RCN report into nurse staffing levels in the NHS in Scotland, Liberal Democrat Health spokesman Ross Finnie said:
"Liberal Democrats agree with the RCN that workforce and workload planning tools should be used by health boards.
"We urgently need to know the Scottish Government's plans for staffing levels in the NHS.
"In difficult financial times, there is much that can be done to cut waste and high pay in the NHS in an effort to maintain the numbers of nurses in Scottish hospitals.
"Liberal Democrats want to see this approach rather than any cut to frontline services."
